Comments on: An Open Letter To Kim Davis http://thatsinappropriate.net/an-open-letter-to-kim-davis/ I'll say it, so you don't have to. And is she or any of her family actually reading, understaning, acknowledging anyone else’s point of view? Is she so isolated / insulated within her own community of followers that they now have no room for dialogue or mutual understanding? Is she even hearing that her own Bible condemns her actions?
I know these kinds of churches. They are so insular that they really don’t let anyone else have any impact on their ideas – anyone that disagrees is outside of the faith and so can be disregarded while they rest secure in their own place in heaven. Thinking outside the church isn’t an option. My grandfather was a paster in a very conservative faith but even he said some of these ‘fringe’ deonominations were a lost cause to logic. God gave us the Bible as his Word to guide but also our brains to think; they are not in conflict. People should use both. Davis’ brand of faith clearly doesn’t.
In the meantime, she’s distorting her own cause. As a gay Christian (NOT an oxymoron), I do believe there are times to take a stand and make choices based on your faith. Pick one of those – the right of a nurse not to participate in assisted suicide, the right of a church to insure or not insure some medical procedures for their employees, the right of a Christian business to cater to a specific clientelle, the right of a private school to establishe parameters for their teachers – all complex issues of the intersection between faith and the public. But in this case – a law to let us get married and share the same public rights as everyone else? Not the same. Law is law. Public is public and private is private. Stand for your right to maintain your Private institutions’ practices if you have to. I can always choose not to participate in your private institution but we have to live in the same public space and under the same law. In the legal, public arena, denying others a right you yourself enjoy isn’t an issue of faith; it’s the very definition of selfishness.

My favorite of these are the first two. Every person is subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God and those which exist are established by God. Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.

So basically, by refusing to follow the laws of the land in which she live, she has welcomed the condemnation of the God she professes to worship.

I do believe the most important message in the bible is love one another. With all the talk about man’s law vs God’s law, maybe she should have just considered another job?? Most of us have to do what is required at our jobs or we would be fired.

You want your right to refuse service? Own your own business. You work for the government, you uphold the laws it enacts.

It also guarantees I don’t have to follow a mythical law based upon a book and an imaginary man in the sky calling the shots.

Further if you do want to quote Scripture your Jesus also separated church from government – Mark 12:17 and in Matthew 7 it tells you YOU do NOT call the shots. So perhaps if you believe in God, you let the guy do his job and sort it out. Not your job. Not your place. Even your Bible says so.

So go on believing what you wish in your personal life, in your home and in your church. Luckily we have a Constitution that protects us and other people who just want a basic civil right from having to be persecuted because we follow the First Amendment – oh and the Fourteenth, too.

There are plenty of quotes and books of the Bible that discuss not passing judgement and how God feels about discrimination. I believe in God and I uphold the law. You are free to have your opinions, just as I am mine. I believe in tolerance, respect, love, caring, forgiveness, and obeying the law. Thank you for your comments.

2nd of all the writer keeps quoting man’s law, man’s law doesn’t mean diddily squat, wonder why our world is a sespool ? Keep following man’s law.

3rd. IF you believe in something, hold fast to it, don’t cave to those around you who will call you bigot or racist.

4. I’d rather stand with God and have the world judge me, then stand with the world and have God judge me.

I love everyone, including my gay neighbors but acting out homosexual desires is wrong, I follow God’s law. Nothing wrong with loving someone of the same sex, acting out the sexual part with someone of the same sex is.

I love those who want to pretend to be a different person than they were born including my sister who wants to be a boy ( for attention because she has always loved being a girl )

I love those who lie cheat and steal, is it right no but God will sort that out.

I love those people who every week I will go to the store and buy their families food when they say they have none but in their homes they have more gadgets than I, or they post on fb that same very night how they are living the life and going to the movies and out to dinner after I just spent 100.00 on their groceries.

I love you all but I will not stand against my God, or the true HERO, THE ONLY HERO to ever live, my savior Jesus
